Meet Dr. Durden
Phillip H. Durden, DMD, MAGD, FAACP
Dr. Phil Durden grew up in the Athens area. After completing his B.S. in Microbiology at the University of Georgia, he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1989. Following dental school, Dr. Durden launched Winterville Dental, where he continues to practice family, cosmetic and implant dentistry today.
Dr. Phillip Durden acquired Dental Sleep Medicine of Athens from Dr. Bob Waugh and Dr. Bob Ward in 2020. Today, he continues their legacy and shared interests in the treatment of TMJ disorders and support for patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea that are CPAP intolerant.
Dr. Durden devotes numerous hours each year to participation in advanced education courses on dentistry and health topics, including full mouth rehabilitation, dental implants, TMJ and obstructive sleep disorders, craniofacial pain and orthodontics. He is a founding member of the Athens Dentofacial Interdisciplinary Study Club. Dr. Durden has achieved Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry and Fellowship from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.
Dr. Durden and his wife Janine have two children, Suzanne and Craig. Suzanne is a graduate of the UGA Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications with a B.A. in Advertising, and Craig graduated from the University of North Georgia with a B.S. in Environmental Spatial Analysis. Dr. Durden and Janine enjoy traveling and spending time with family at the lake. Dr. Durden also has a private pilot license, he loves taking friends and family on flying adventures to see the world from a completely different perspective.
